1925 Crown Point — Shepherdess retires
It was the end of an era of sheep raising.
“Last Thursday Mrs. Zilpha Spaulding sold all of her sheep. The flock of sheep began from a lamb that Mr. Spaulding’s grandmother Spaulding gave him (her husband) sixty-four years ago,” the White Church correspondent reported in the Ticonderoga Sentinel on Jan. 29, 1925.

- “’Old Iodine,’ the scout better known as Hammond Petty, went to his haunts of Mt. Belfry lookout to begin his season after spending the winter with friends and relatives here.”
- “There are five men from the U. S. Dept. of Entomology in this section inspecting the forests. They are boarding at Robert Brookes’,” the Ironville correspondent reported in the Ticonderoga Sentinel on Jan. 22.
- “Mr. and Mrs. Luther Moses visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rich of Crown Point Wednesday. They spent a part of the day on Lake Champlain, with a nice catch of fish as the result,” the South Ticonderoga correspondent reported in the Sentinel on Jan. 22.
- “George C. Wilson, our ever-popular barber, has reopened his barbershop at his new location on Center Street,” the Crown Point correspondent reported on Feb. 5. “After being without a barber at this end of town for six months, it will seem good to once more be able to have our work done at home.”
- “E. C. Irving had his fish house moved to Port Henry,” the Hammonds Corners correspondent reported on Feb. 12.
- “Henry Ploffis is home from Putnam where he was working a lumber job,” the Ironville correspondent reported on Feb. 19.
- “Quite a stock of logs are being driven to F. C. Pond’s sawmill,” the Factoryville correspondent reported on March 5.
- “The maple season is near. Some of the makers are beginning to tap trees,” the Ironville correspondent reported on March 12.
- “Truman Helms of Port Henry has again been engaged to lead the Crown Point Cornet Band. The band plans to give a series of concerts in the village park during the summer months,” the Sentinel reported on April 2.
- “Moving pictures of scenes in Canada and animals of that country were enjoyed at the Congregational Church Tuesday evening of this week,” the Hammonds Corners correspondent reported in the Sentinel on April 2. “The new carpets for the Congregational Church are ready for the floors.”
- A. R. Whitford of Crown Point planned to organize a local chapter of the Glens Falls Automobile Club.
“A. R. Whitford came all the way down from Crown Point to join the Glens Falls Automobile Club,” The Glens Falls Times reported on April 29. “It’s the grand idea and the greatest club of its kind,” Whitford said.
