“The beautiful flag that was denoted a few years ago by the D.A.R. of Ticonderoga floated to the breeze on National Hospital Day, and also Mother’s Day, over the nearly completed new Moses-Ludington Hospital and was admired by many townspeople and visitors passing through our historical town,” the Ticonderoga Sentinel reported on May 24, 1923.

Financial contributions continued to come in as construction neared completion.

The Crown Point American Red Cross chapter contributed $250 — the equivalent of $4.460 in 2023 dollars — to furnish a room.

“The room will be known as the Crown Point room.”

Philanthropist Horace Moses matched the $250 contribution.

In other May 24, 1923 Ticonderoga Sentinel news:

Weather: “A miniature cloud burst that occurred here (at Hammonds Corners) Wednesday afternoon interrupted perceptibly with the silver tea at Mrs. Mary Wyman’s.”

The rain did not dampen the enthusiasm.

“A very enjoyable and profitable social hour was spent.”

Sports: The Ticonderoga High School baseball team lost 2–1 to Silver Bay Academy on the road May 17 and defeated Silver Bay at home 5–4 May 22.

In between, Mineville defeated Ticonderoga 10–6 at Ticonderoga on May 19.

Hometown scholar: “We note that Gordon Burleigh, a student at Blair Academy, Blairtown, N.J., is earning enviable scholastic honors. In the last issue of the school newspaper, he is given prominence with through leading the honor roll of his class with a standing of ninety-five percent.”

New car: “W. H. McIntyre of Crown Point bought a Buick six sedan from H.F. Huestis.”

Great catch: “A 19-pound brook trout, believed ot be the largest ever caught in the Adirondacks, was caught Saturday in Loon Lake by E.R. Hayes and Albert Page of Saranac Lake.”
