Glens Falls 5th Ward Councilman Wesley Braydon was fairly certain the huge potato from his Hudson Manor garden plot on South Street was one for the record books.

“It tips the scales at two pounds, one ounce,” The Post-Star reported on Oct. 1, 1919. “Mr. Braydon has had very good luck with the crop raised on the Hudson Manor lot. He secured 15 bushel of spuds from eight rows about 100 feet long and had potatoes for his table since July 22.”
