Dr. Hugh Baker, dean of the New York State College College of Forestry, had an expanded audience when he spoke about “Better Business Through Better Trade Relations” at the Glens Falls Rotary Club meeting at The Queensbury Hotel on Dec. 18, 1930.

The luncheon speech was broadcast on WBGF radio 1370 in Glens Falls as part of a two-day Christmas hour-long programs series promoting local services clubs.

The Kiwanis Club meeting was broadcast from The Queensbury Hotel on Dec. 17.

“Not only will you have the opportunity of hearing these beautiful Christmas party programs, but you will hear something of what actually transpires at a Kiwanis or Rotary meeting,” the Glens Falls Merchant’s Committee advertised in The Post-Star.

Both programs featured Master of Ceremonies Bill Richards and music by the Adirondack Ensemble.

The Adirondack Ensemble was a mixed vocal quartet comprised of Kiwanis Club member William Jones, Rotary Club member Maurice Simmonds and their wives.

WBGF was a short-lived radio station that W. Neal Parker and Herbert H. Metcalf operated on Numan Street in Glens Falls from fall 1930 to around July 1932.

I have not confirmed, but I am told the BGF stood for Better Glens Falls.
