The Lake George Band of an earlier era made its first public appearance on Decoration Day in 1906, and, “Not a flaw could be found in the organization,” The Lake George Mirror reported on June 9, 1906.

The band had been practicing twice a week since about 20 musicians attended an organizational meeting April 25 at the Lake George Court House.

A.D. Wilson was elected leader and manager, and H.D. Chambers secretary/ treasurer.

The band performed an open-air concert at Lake George on June 8 at The Carpenter House piazza.

“Under the leadership of Mr. Wilson the band has progressed wonderfully in so short a time, and now Lake George can boast of a band that will equal any in a town of this size.”

Wilson had been active on the Lake George music scene for some time.

In 1899 he accompanied on cornet a combined choir of the Methodist, Episcopal and Presbyterian churches at the Lake George ecumenical Thanksgiving service, The Morning Star of Glens Falls reported on Nov. 29, 1899.
