Voter enrollment in New York’s 21st Congressional District increased by nearly 25,000 voters over the past year, an increase of just over 6 percent.

As of Nov. 1, there were 432,954 active registered voters in the 12-county congressional district, compared with 408,141 on Nov. 1, 2019, an increase of 24,813 active registered voters in the run-up to the Trump-Biden election, according to new statistics from the state Board of Elections.

The Republican party added 8,146 voters in the district, while the Democratic Party added 5,865 active registered voters.

There were 9,584 more unaffiliated voters than a year earlier.

Most political parties added enrollment except for the Green party, which dropped 31 voters, and the Working Families party, which dropped three voters.

The Libertarian party nearly doubled its enrollment from 611 in 2019 to 1,113.

The strong enrollment year helped offset some of the Republican party’s loss of enrollment over the past eight years, while the Democratic party has added enrollment.

The Republican party had 175,030 active enrolled voters, as of Nov. 1, compared with 175,641, as of Nov. 1, 2012, the first congressional election after redistricting.

The Democratic party had 126,327 active enrolled voters, as of Nov.1, compared with 118,641, as of Nov. 1, 2012.

The Republican party had a 40.4 percent share of voter enrollment in the district, as of Nov. 1, compared with 43.2 percent in 2012.

The Democratic party had a 29.1 percent share of voter enrollment, as of Nov. 1, compared with 29.3 percent in 2012.
