Union Bag Co. and Fort Edward International Paper Co. employee baseball teams played to a 2–2 tie at Village Park in Hudson Falls on May 24, 1919.

“The teams were as evenly matched as two nines could possibly be and the result was a battle royal,” The Post-Star reported on May 26, 1919.

Extra innings were not possible because of a high school game between Hudson Falls and Cambridge at the field afterward, which Hudson Falls won 17–3.

“Skipper” Berrigan pitched for IP, and “Spot” Morris was catcher.

“Chick” Monroe was starting pitcher for Union Bag, and Tom Heidorf was catcher.

Monroe was back on the mound for Union Bag at League Park in Fort Edward on May 30, leading his team to a 7–0 shut out of IP.

“He allowed six hits, no two of which came in the same inning, and struck out 12,” The Post-Star reported on May 31, 1919.

The IP team said its was “weakened” by not having some of its regular players in the game.

“Arnold Stone, the portsider, was on the mound for Fort Edward and pitched a good game, but his support wobbled behind him.”
