Stefanik 10th highest fund-raiser of House candidates

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Schuylerville, was the tenth highest fund-raiser among House candidates in the 2019–2020 election cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan campaign finance education organization.

Stefanik was the ninth highest in campaign spending.

Stefanik raised about $13.35 million, more than seven times the average House candidate take of $1.845 million.

About 48.5 percent of her contributions were “small dollar” individual contributions of less than $200 per donor, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, with $37.2 million, had the highest receipts, and Rep. Ted Yoho, R-FL., with $90,585, the lowest.

Stefanik had nearly $2 million on hand in her campaign fund to start the next election cycle, as of Dec. 31.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-CA., with $13.9 million, had the largest amount of cash on hand, while Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, with $7,759, was the lowest.

Stefanik defeated Democrat Tedra Cobb, a former county legislator from St. Lawrence County, who raised nearly $5.7 million, more than three times the average amount raised by House candidates.

About 46 percent of Cobb’s contributions were “small dollar” individual contributions of less than $200 per donor, according to the Federal Election Commission.
