The Hudsons — No smoking section
A second set of grandstands “for the accommodation of the lady admirers of the game” was constructed at the Second Street base ball grounds as The Hudsons, a local semi-professional team, prepared to open its second season.
“Gentlemen admirers will be permitted, but they will have to go on the gentlemen’s stand when they desire to smoke,” The Morning Star of Glens Falls reported on May 15, 1886.
The Hudsons had brought in players from Philadelphia, New York City and Detroit to beef up the lineup, The Morning Star reported on May 3, 1886, the day the team began practice.
